Goals:

Compete against community teams while building relationships with teammates and continuing to develop mechanically and learning the fundamentals of the game building.

Roster Selection Process:

Travel tryouts typically take place in late June/early July each year. Tryout dates are determined considering: the availability of facilities, outside evaluators, High School, other coaching staff; to minimize conflicts with other sporting events to the best of our ability; and the goal of completing all Travel tryouts prior to the end of the current season. Players are evaluated in various skills including hitting, fielding, catching and pitching. Players are scored and assigned to rosters based on skill level.

Off Season Training:

2 training sessions per week at indoor training facility

Coaches

Jon BorchertHead Coach
Coach Borchert is a 2011 graduate of Upper Arlington High School and was member of the 2010 team that captured Upper Arlington’s 16th District Championship. After graduation, Jon attended Keuka College where he was a 3-time captain of the Keuka College baseball team, a 2-time All-Region New York Player selection, and 1-time D3 All-American. Jon has coached various UAJBA teams over the last few years. Currently, Jon is employed at UBS Financial Services, Inc,. and resides in Grandview Heights with his dog, Lily.
Jason TurnerAssistant Coach
1996 Graduate of Versailles High School where I lettered in 3 varsity sports. I played baseball for The Ohio State University. At OSU, our greatest team season was in 1999 where we were Super Regional Runner-Up (game away from advancing to College World Series in Omaha), Regional Champions, and Big Ten Champions. Individual awards included Academic All-American – 2000, First team Big Ten – 2000, Academic All Big Ten– 1998,1999, 2000, Big Ten All Tournament – 2000, and Ohio State Captain – 2000. Finished OSU career in top 20 in Ohio State history in total Home Runs and RBIs.

I was afforded the opportunity to play professional baseball in the New York Yankees organization for four seasons from 2000-2003. Career spanned all levels of A ball in Tampa, Greensboro, and Staten Island. Minor League career average was .281.

After the minor leagues, my coaching career began as the varsity head baseball coach for West Jefferson High School from 2008 – 2011. There, I coached Caleb Ferguson, who currently pitches in the MLB. I got involved with UAJBA in 2019 coaching the U9 team. Coached in UAJBA through the 12u season culminating with a Cooperstown experience in 2023 that is my best baseball memory to date.

My wife Jill and I have been married for 22 years and have two children. Emerson is a freshman at Upper Arlington high school and Samuel is a 7th grader at Jones middle school. I am currently employed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services in an executive management role in the unemployment compensation office. I have served in various roles within unemployment since 2006.
